On Tour - Bomber Command (RAAF in the UK) 16 July 2014

We stayed in and around York today. Firstly we headed out to Elvington Airfield where there is a whole airfield, as it was when they walked off at the end of the War. The airfield is now a Museum and also has a couple of aircraft that are not seen at other sites. The Halifax here was flown out of Elvington by the French Sqn operating here and there is a mosquito that can taxi but is not to fly as if it came down there would be no mosquitos left that could even taxi.

Many of the buildings have individual displays within and all are of a very high standard. We left Elvington at 1200 and headed back to York as the rest of the day is free for all to spend time viewing this wonderful town.

Tomorrow we head south to Cosford for the RAF Museum and then to Wolverhampton where we will stay the night.
